Weather is important to any commercial pilot. Keeping track of wind speed and direction, lightning, temperature, storms, and visibility and the rest of it are critical to the safe operations of flights.
Two sites that you should know of are that are:
- The Lockheed Martin Flight Service at http://1800wxbrief.com which is a free service recommended by the FAA and available via the web, radio, and phone.
- The Aviation Weather Center again free without credentials.
While both are good, and free is always good, they take a little playing around with to get the information that you need, and they will not do as much for micro-climate data.
Enjoy and safe flying.
